The Old Anandians Association of Queensland Inc. is a non-profit organisation formed with the foremost intention to nurture friendship among fellow Old Anandians residing in Queensland and to assist Alma Mater.

The journey of forming the Incorporated Association began when the ‘Queensland Battle of Maroons’ was conducted in 2011 with fellow Old Nalandians in the spirit of brotherhood. The enthusiasm that generated during this event led to a formation of an informal group of Old Anandians in Queensland. The second cricket encounter between the two brotherly schools was played for the Colonel Henry Steel Olcott Trophy in a grand scale with a large gathering and it was felt that the time is right to incorporate the association. In April 2013, Old Anandians in Queensland formed ‘The Old Anandians Association of Queensland Inc.’, following the example of their colleagues in Victoria, NSW and WA.

Generational Brotherhood

We are here to create, foster and grow relationships between generations of Anandians.

We are a brotherhood of generations from teens to those in their 70’s.

Community Service

Through our great network and community, we have banded together to take the initiative to conduct a number of projects that benefits society in Sri Lanka and in Queensland. A sample of such social projects include:

  • Establishing annual scholarships for Ananda hostel students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Sending computer equipment to Ananda college students
  • Arranging first-aid boxes for several hospitals in Sri Lanka
  • Conducting a youth workshop in Brisbane to provide an opportunity for high school and university students to meet academic and industry professionals to discuss career pathways.
  • The annual charity walk, aimed at raising funds for a worthy cause in Sri Lanka.

Management Committee

The management committee comprises of our core team of President, Secretary and Treasurer and supporting roles of Social Coordinator and Sports Coordinator. Additionally, there are up to 7 committee members working to support and achieve the goals of the leadership team.
