The Need
Currently in Sri Lanka, the prices of vegetables, fish, meat and even rice have soared alongside the diminishing spending power of the average Sri Lankan due to recent economic struggles. This has cause a great stress on low-income households to maintain a basic level of daily nutrition and sustenance.
Reportedly, the Gampaha District of Sri Lanka has approximately 3,000 malnourished pregnant mothers. Consuming the necessary nutrition during pregnancy is crucial to both mother and unborn child. The effects of malnourishment is suffered by both mother and child well after pregnancy. It is well documented how crucial the first 1000 days is for the physical and mental development of a child.
While there was government assistance in the past, it is no longer the case. The next generation of intelligent, healthy children is being destroyed silently. With this crisis situation, we are committing to raise funds to provide at least 100 pregnant mothers & their unborn child, the gift of nutrition when they need it most.
This is your chance to make a real difference to a person in dire need, with effects that can span a generation.
